Temporary gallery at Skippergata 12b, during Tromsø International Film Festival, 2017. Seaweed brew, seaweed snacks, bar installation, local professors, fishermen and artists as bartenders. Hidden cinema, DJ and live music every night.

Inspired by a historical rumor that the Inuits on Kamchatka made an alcoholic brew from seaweed, the artists Kåre Grundvåg and Trond Ansten set out on a quest to make a brew exclusively from algae. After experimenting with a dozen different recipes, carrying out rigorous testing of the brew at Galleri Napa in Rovaniemi they have finally arrived at a capable recipe which is now ready to be tested on the general public.

The framework for the exhibition is a staged pub in the center of Tromsø that exclusively serves seaweed brew to drink and seaweed snacks for treat. Our humble establishment has a talented house band consisting of Marita Isobel Solberg from "MARAS", Erik Nilsson from "The Late Great" and jazz pianist Øystein Bolstad. If you manage to find our cinema in a hidden underground cellar behind the toilet, you`ll get to see the film “Devil's Apron - a journey in seaweed, punk and bering culture of the north”
